IHMVCU HQ marks construction milestone with Topping Out Ceremony

Aug 14, 2018 ||

QUAD CITIES, USA (08/15/18) – One of the final steel beams of the new IHMVCU headquarters was bolted in place at the topping out ceremony held on Aug. 14.

In preparation for this construction milestone, the beam was painted blue for IHMVCU members, employees, construction teams and the community to sign. An American flag and an evergreen tree were placed on the beam. This tradition marks the symbolic completion of the structural phase of the building, which remains on schedule to be completed in 2019 and occupied in 2020.

“The significance of this day goes far beyond the beam and the building,” said Brian Laufenberg, IHMVCU President & CEO. “Our predecessors made a commitment to the community in 1934, and this building is a continuation of that commitment.”

IHMVCU broke ground on the new 90,000 square-foot building, located at 2500 River Drive in Moline, on April 17, 2018. Employees will enjoy a campus-like setting with 290 parking spaces, a fitness center, a large community room, collaboration areas, outdoor walking paths and convenient access to MetroLINK, Channel Cat Water Taxi, and the bike path.

There have been nearly 40 construction members working on this project to date with 17,500 hours logged to date. The next steps include finishing the exterior of the building so construction workers can work on the interior this winter.

The design-builder is Russell and the architect is LEO A DALY. This is an IMPACT project, which means the project will be constructed with Quad City building trade locals and contractors.
